VISIONARIES

The Pioneers Behind The Erickson School.

It takes an individual of great vision to recognize an opportunity to help advance our society with the addition of senior services. As a generation gets older, their needs, tastes, and priorities change. And as nearly 80 million adults are on the brink of turning 60, a societal revolution is on the rise.

John Erickson, Founder and Chairman of Erickson Retirement Communities, and Freeman Hrabowski, President of UMBC, recognized that a public research university with a strong emphasis on public policy—as well as one of the nation’s largest gerontology doctoral programs—was an ideal home for a school intended to address every phase of aging in America.

Erickson School.

Our goal is to provide high-quality teaching, experiential learning, and exposure to applied management skills, all blended to form a new generation of informed professionals in the growing aging services sector. By integrating aging, management, and policy, Erickson School works to create new ideas and new knowledge with groundbreaking research in the realm of adult development and aging.

Our successes should not only be measured by our scholastics, but also by our ability to impact change with the ideas we create. From healthcare and housing, to finance and development, Erickson School will enhance the relevance of aging adults by preparing leaders for this revolution.
